driving skills & other problems

i dont know whats wrong with me...either its me or my car, when i shift drivng as a daily driver my car is jerking alot, when i shift i have to give it ALOT of gas before i even totalyl let off the clutch, for it to not jerk as much, could this be a timing problem?? ive been busy with school and havent had to chance to work with the car...also, if i tap the gas while lets say in 2nd gear it will jerk ALOT, i meanjust a tap and then let off and friends get sick driving in my car because of the shifts is there a pproblem with the car or meeeeee????? and how exactly do i know if my clutch is "grinding" when i race?? iam such a nooob

by grinding i am guessing you mean that the clutch is slipping. if you're a competant shifter say like you slam gears from 3 to 4 and the rpms stay up and they stay there at the same place and your foot is smashed down and then the rpms drop, your clutch is prolly slipping. that is what mine does. in only does it from 2-3, 3-4 tho. so i dunno...the 1-2 shift for me is usually decent.
