ebay strut bar etc

ok, i hear many theories on the strut bar. some say that it's just a bar so why pay hundreds of dollars on one and some say that DC and Nismo strut bars are well worth the money. i don't feel or see any difference between the 2 and i personally would go for the 20 dollar strut bar on ebay, but there are some who say that welded strut bars are better that the strut bars with henges. well i'm happy with the 20 dollar ebay ones i have and wouldn't change them unless my s14 was a show car. but i dunno that just my opinion.

what you pay for is what you get... buying a $20 sway bar isnt gonna do sh*t in the handling dept.

Like NSN240 said........What You Pay Is What You Get.......$20.oo = S**T

Ill post pics if you like and show you that there is a BIG DIFFERENCE in Quality and craftsmanship, between a $20.00 strut Bar ( E-bay special ) and a $100.oo Strut Bar ( DC Sport or NISMO )

in some cases you get what you pay for. strut bars are just that. if it provides an anchor between the two strut towers and thereby unifies them then done. higher dollar should get you at the very least a lighter more durable bar. and in some cases one thar doesnt flex as much. but if you get a cheap one or something that is similar in build its a waste to go with the pricey version. now if you get better materials then go for it.

...im sure you kno how strut bars work...buying a more expensive bar will give you more presision in tuning...because you want to know how stiff they are to balance out the relaton ship between the front and rear bars, to get more or less oversteer/understeer and how much of each you get...and of course the stiffest hardest strut bar isnt always (usually isnt) the best..and you do get what you pay for...but remember you can always fabricate your own cheaply and you have more control over tuning...

Just because it connects the two strut towers, doesn't mean it'll do what it's supposed to do.

If you buy the El-cheapo Ebay strut bars, they're pointless. Some of those you can bend with your finger after they're mounted - imagine the forces that a chassis feels when cornering compared to your finger.

Taken to the extreme, you can take a piece of cardboard and connect the two shoch towers and get the same performance feel - which is nothing compared to strong, flex-free bars.

your right raine. im just basically saying just cause its inexpensive doesnt mean it sucks. im sure the elcheapo ebay ones arent very good. but then again i dont buy on ebay. im a reputable shop only kind o dude. raine you guys are lucky by the way. i just came back from LA yesterday. i like the fact that most of the shops that i buy from are within like a 5 mile radius.
that and the speedway is pretty cool ours sucks. anyway. i for one wouldnt waste my money on an elcheapo ebay bar. but i would get a fairly inexpensive bar if it were the right app for me.

If it ties the shock towers correctly and you can't bend the bar with your finger, then it should serve its intended purpose... the rest is reaching into your wallet for the name tag =P

Higher dollar strut bars are very important. High grades are literally welded as one piece so that there is no bending and flexing. Not only of the chassis, but also from the strut bar.
I went one step down from solid and purchased Your basic 3 piece, which isn't that bad as long as it doesn't move or flex in the joint's. I had the one piece DC sports front strut bar and sold it, I didn't want to have to afford the rear either (matching pair), and it looked kinda ugly.
So after I sold it I went with an imatation cusco brand, very pleased and I only spent $170.00 total on ebay for the matching front and rear. It works just as good as the one piece strut bars. Do not buy the $30 Megans or any other imitation for that matter, the 5 piece assembly has no strength and can bend and flex. The bolts to each part of the 5 piece can actually untighten very easily.
