Engine idle

Can anyone tell me why my 91 240 idles at about 1300? I know this is insanely high when it's supposed to be like 700-750. Anything I can do to adjust/fix this as I'm new to the 240 scene? Thanks.

check the belts, or fix the timing. Hopefully that helps. the timing should be set at 18.

You should just be able to adjust the idle with the idle adjust screw. It on the IACV-AAC valve, which is located between the 3rd and 4th runners on the intake manifold. The idle should be at 700 +/- 50 RPM with all accessories off. If you need help locating the right screw, any mechanics shop should be able to show you which one it is.
