Hey guys. I have a 91 240sx with the ka24de. It just developed a knock in what seems to be the top front of the engine. The timing chain/valve train area. It's kind of a loud tick or light knock. When you first start the car it takes 3-5 seconds before the sound starts?
Any ideas guys? Thanks!

 

Broken timing chain guide maybe? Or a sticky valve?

 

If it was a timing chain guide or stuck valve wouldn't it make the noise right when it starts up? Why is there a delay when it starts up?

 

start with easy stuff take off your valve cover and make sure all the bolts are tight. and it could be the guide so while you have your valve cover off check for that look and make sure you can see the guide.
