Exclamation engine knock...what can cause this?

My 240 recently started to have some pretty loud knocking sound which seems to be coming from the head...i have a KA24E SOHC so supposedly you don't have to adjust the valve lash. also i don't know if it could be that the timing chain might have to be adjusted...also one of my injectors is supposedly leaking but when i took it to a shop when my engine light was on, the guy told me that he was getting the injector leak code because of my intake manifold and said that i just needed to replace the manifold...i just wanted to inform myself before i did anything...any help would be appreciated...

engine knock can be caused from a lot of things. no oil!

i would just check the timing chain, chain tensioner and also, make sure your injectors arent just clicking real bad.
my injectors starting clicking real loud and i thought it was my motor knocking.

Just make sure where the noise exactly came from. It could be piston noise. If your car have an auto tranny, a bad tranny will also make that knocking sound. Just double check where the noise came from.

oh and to reply to the other posts...i get lack of power from the engine, its a manual transmission, the higher the revs, the louder the knock is, and if it were the pistons, i'm thinking it would just be that the timing of the spark on the power stroke is off, therefore it would have to do with the timing which is at factory spec, 15 degrees BDC i think ...again thanks

if it knocking louder at higher rev it could be your rod bearings.if so i would check them as soon as possible before you spin a bearing.
