Finally found a 240 what do you think

Hey ive been waiting to get a 240 for probly about 6 months maybe more. i posted a while ago maybe like november when i signed up for the forum just saying i would have a 240 soon and all that. All ive been doing since then is reading about them and wishing i had one. Ive been reading some of the stuff on here just havent been posting cause i dont got any real questions since i dont got the car yet, but been learning all the stuff everyone else asks anyway, and any of my other questions were already asnwered. I just wanted to make sure ill have it before english town driftdays, my freind already signed me up even though i dont got a car yet. well i think ill finally have one in like a week or 2.

Ive been looking for a 91-93 coupe and i finally found one near my house, it looks like its in perfect condition and exactly like what ive been looking for, its a 91, red not the like maroon color it came in, the real red one(i wanted black but reds cool ill probly paint it eventually anyway), 5speed and only has 81,000 miles on it. i talked to the guy said he was asking 2500 but is negotiable i told him id have about 2000 by the weekend he said he would sell it for that much.

Im going by to check it out over the weekend and drive it, so i was just wondering if anyone has any tips on what i should be looking for like common things that happens that might be bad that i wouldnt think of or anything like that? Also is that a good price or should i try to talk him down more?, I thought 2000 for it seemed pretty cheap since its only got 81,000 miles and the body is mint condition, its got the stock rims too i guess there the ones that came on the SE cause its an SE. I think its all stock, i hope it is. The only thing i didnt like is its got the HID display with the digital speedometer, but i could just get a new gauge cluster if i really wanted to right? He said it drives perfect hes only selling it cause he just bought a house and stuff and got married. Well any advice i would appreciate alot.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hey, well i checked out the car today. it seemed pretty nice the only things that are wrong are the tear in the seat like on everyones 240 and the driver side door panel is pealing a little, the antenna was stuck up, one tiny spot of rust on the roof and on the pillar near the hood, besides that all the paint is good. and 3 nigts ago a branch fell on the sunroof and cracked some of it. it still works fine and doesnt leak cause it snowed the past few days it was completely dry but he took off 300 dollars to get it fixed. My brother also told me it should need a timing chain and valve cover gasket real soon cause its got 81,000 miles and timing chains supposed to be done every 80,000. all the power works a/c, heat, cd player, just the hud cuts out everyonce in a while but if you hit the dashboard it comes back on does anyone know if that is fixable? Other than that it drove fine shifted good idled good seemed really nice.
So i left him 100 dollar deposite and got to go back within a week or 2 when i get the rest of the money and its mine. do you think i should try to talk him down since its gonna need a timing chain and valve cover gasket or is 1700 still good enough?

Thanks,
Dennis

good job man. It cost me 200 to replace my windshield if that helps. It doesn't have any of the tint or that shatterproof glass. So it might be around the same. Just call around and get quotes. Most people will say they match competitors prices.

Chad

ALWAYS call around to get different prices, and ALWAYS include "so and so said that they would do it for this price, can you beat their offer?"

just be cool about it and they'll will work with you
