Arrow Free Power Checklist!

Ok so I am bored and wanted to compile a list of stuff (soon to be added to) that can give / free up horsepower, from loosing weight to little tweaks to the engine, free or cheap.

P.S. No one get pissed if you say "this doesn't add power" or "this is not worth it" or whatever the case I dont give a S.hit, this is here for someone to look at and maybe get an idea.

First off, Weight Reducion!

1. Simple Stuff-
-Removing Spare Tire
-Remove Jack(tell him to find his own car)
-Clean Your Car, there is crap literally everywhere
-Take out The little Rugs in the floor (not the actual Capet)
-Passenger Sunvisor
-Cut out useless wires (there everywhere)

2. More Adanced Weight Reduction
-Remove rear seat, passenger seat
-Remove rear spoiler
-Remove Trunk crap (liner and other useless trunk junk)
-Remove stock amps and power with aftermarket head unit
-Remove Glove Box
-Closeable cover covering sunroof (s14's with sunroof)
-Remove Exhaust Heat Shield
-CLEN ENGINE BAY, dirt and grim begin to add up

3. Real Advanced Stuff
-Remove windshield washer sprayer, Tank, Motor, and Hoses
-Take Sound Deadening stuff out
-Remove A/C
-Take your door covers off and look inside, there is plenty of little metal pieces and crap that can go, this also applies to the rear panels, allot of little metal parts, not the big things that brace the door incase of a wreck, just little stuff
-Fully gut the car
-Remove Air Bags (i'm not responsible if you die)
-Remove Cruise Control
-Remove Heater
-Remove window motors (fashon up a crank of some sort)
-Remove Emissions Control

4. Free Power (as much power as you get from "free"
-Z32 Twin Turbo Fuel Filter Replacement
-Cut Air Box
-Advance Timing
-Remove Exhaust
-Remove Belt Driven Accessories like A/c, Fan (get an electric)

5. Reduced Weight For Money
-Race Seats, aluminum Brackets
-Carbon Fiber hood, trunk/hatch
-Speed Glass
-Fiberglass fenders / Bumper
-Lightweight Hawker battery
-Lightweight Exhaust
-Short Ram intake
-Small Mirrors (carbon fiber)

6. Additional Cheap Power
6.1 Reduce load on rotational mass
-Lightweight Flywheel
-Light Wheels
-Aluminum/Carbon Fiber Driveshaft
-Pully kit for less rotating mass

I will add to this soon, hell I took my front fender off and found all kinds of dirt, same in my trunk in the wheel well. Be Innovative, i'm tired and as I think of more I will add.

Any suggestions pertaining to this are welcome! (esp. ideas not listed that I can add.)

get out of the car, that usually frees up 150-300 pounds depending on variables.

Don't forget about the EGR block-off and re-routing the PCV valve to a breather or catch can (assuming you can do that in your area).

Just take out the chassis. Who needs them?

I understand the whole weight savings idea. The less weight the faster the car will move. BLAH BLAH! I owned a factory stock 2800lb LX mustang and 3025 with myself and nitrous bottle and I didnt need to strip my car out and make it look all nasty to make it fast. If you want to be picking up chicks and if its your DD, I WOULDNT suggest stripping your car or a tenth of second off your ET! -Rant off

Wow i'm glad you all read my post, the part where I DO NOT CARE ABOUT STUPID CRITICISMS, except for dacheat thats all you give, for all i care you can go to hell. A Stock s14 240 pulls about 17 pounds for each horsepower, with a few cheap mods / removing some stuff you can shave that down to 14 pounds per horse. Of course you can add nitrous, swap the engine, orturbo your car but this is for the meantime. For a comparison a 350z stock pulls abut 11.5 pounds per horse.

Like i said, this is for information, I dont give a damn for criticisms so hold them, if you have something useful, then thanks.

horsepower will mean nothing without time and the rule of thumb is...

every hundred pounds off your car should save you around 1/100 or 1/10 of a second, i forget which

well to actually say something useful, buy a racing fuel cell of smaller capacity than the stock tank, tho thats a little far fetched for a daily driver...

or you could buy a car without all the power options like me. but i did do all the "power" things when i bought my car...it does help a little and i also removed everything that had anything to do with the ac because it didnt work.oh and im poor so i cruise with a 1/4 tank of gas "to save weight duhh" lol not making fun of you..that is just what i tell all of my freinds as a j/k.

i like the information... it helps others if they plan to reduce weight... all information is ammo for the war... it might not help others but it might help one person... and so long as it helps one person then information is well used... keep it up i will read and add where i can...

I know they're not free mods, but reducing your unsprung weight with a lighter weight coil-over setup, aluminum control arms & lighter rims would help acceleration & handling tremendously.
