i go to school at WVU so i know what you mean. i just pop her in neutral and do a 85-90 mile an hour coast downhill. that helps with gas mileage. damn sr still only gets like 28 mpg if i do that though
i need my afc tuned lol

I actually coast in gear. While the hear is in gear and the accelrator isn't pressed, no fuel is going into the motor. However, in neatral, fuel is being used to keep the engine alive at idle.

haha really. i learned something new. so costing in gear is saves gas. how come you burn gas downshifting?

Your engine has to match revs for the gear, whether you do it yourself or let the clutch force it back up.

but when u put it in netral you coast a crap load further, because the car in gear has the whole engine deceleration thing slowing it down, while the guy in neatral only has the wind, so when you have to accelerate to coast some more you just lost double the amount of gas that the guy in neutral save cause he is still coasting.

All I know is that I've saved more gas coasting in gear than I have coasting in neutral. Plus my car does the whole backfire poping flames deal while I'm decellerating in gear

Awww, man, I love those noises! I had a big exhaust leak for a few days (OK, the muffler pipe had rusted completely through ) and I got those noises coming through my exhaust like that. It's fantastic!

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust or what?
