gauges took a vacation

so i started up my car the other night, hopped in and noticed it was darker than ussually
so definatly tried to get to the gauges but goddam you have to take the whole dash out? the speedometer still works(when it feels like it) and only the clock and the check lights light up

and if i got the white-face replacements they still wouldn't work correct? one of my friends said the white face gauges have there own wiring
but anyways anybody have any experiences like this? thanks

To replace the bulbs you have to remove the panel under the drivers side dash, drop the steering column down a little bit, and then you can pop out the cluster and bezel. It's not that hard. Did you check fuses as well? Also did you mess with any wiring before this happened?

Thats why you take the two bolts out that hold the steering column near the top. It will allow you to drop it down enough to pull out the bezel. Also, by messing with wires I mean did you mess with anything like stereo wires or something of that sort?

Similar thing happened to my friend before after he was messing with his stereo wiring. To fix it he had to ground one of the wires, I just don't remember which one off the top of my head. Once he did that everything worked again.
