Question getting owner to respond?????

Alright guys and gals, I dont know if this is the right spot for this or not, but here goes:

I've been looking for a 240sx for a long time, but haven't had any luck finding any in my area (Vermont). I found one a while back where i was lied to over the phone and drove two hours too look at a rust bucket that I was told was very clean.
But I recently found what i think is the perfect car.
I was out driving around, decided to go through a development that I hadn't been through in a long time, I drove around a corner, and what do i find. A 1991-1993 (at least i think it is, has the newer style front bumper) 240sx hatchback, with no plates on it. So I immediately pull in, get out and start to inspect it. It's originally from Florida, has a florida dealership sticker and florida gators stickers on it, so its clean clean underneath too, no rust at all. I have only found one spot of rust and thats under the rear edge of the wing. I inspect it a little more, to find its an SE, it has leather too (did the older ones come with leather??? back seats and all???) sunroof, all that stuff.
Its also a manual, but theres a puddle of oil sitting underneath it, with a heatshield thats fallen down as well....so im thinking great, get it for cheap, sr20det swap.. awesome. The passenger side tires are flat too, so im assuming its been there a while as well.

But there is no for sale sign or anything, so i write up a thing saying "im very interested in buying this car, blah blah blah" and i stick it under the windshield wiper. So I am leaving this place and a lady comes out of one of the apartments. so i ask her if she knows whats going on with it, and she says she has no clue who's it is, but its been there over a month now. I have stopped back two other times to find my note still there and talked to two other neighbors who have said the same thing.

So my question is....what do you guys think about the whole situation? And what would you do to get in touch with the owners?????? Theres no plates so i can't go to the DMV and get the name and number, and im just running out of ideas. I'm even thinking about just sitting in the parking lot with a lawn chair and asking every person that goes by if they know anything about it...lol.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also help on what year it is and what the deal is with the leather. Oh, I can get pics if necessary.

Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for the really long write up...

Try writing down the vin number, then looking at a carfax to see who last purchased the car.

yes it will cost you about $20 iirc.

when all else fails take a bat and break all the windows and wait the owner is sure to show him or her self.

someone once told me that if a car is abandoned you could get a new title for it with you as the new owner. now the question is what is the definition of abandoned, that is where it is and for how long it has been there.

my money is on that it was stolen try conntecting your local police and complain about it like you live there and the cops will put a notice on it "if this car isnt moved in X amount of days it will be towed" then try and buy it from the impound or the tow truck driver that comes to pick it up

carfax does not give you a name, just locations and dates. You can write down the plate, go down to your local DMV, and for a small fee get their names, address, and number.

There are no plates so that scenario is unavailable at this time. I think you should go down the police route. If they find a body in the trunk you will feel better about yourself too.

run the VIN and if it's been abandoned then you can have a lien hold put on the car. the owners will be contacted to pay the fees of the lien. after 30 days or so if they don't pick it up. a new title with no lien holds will be printed under your name. after all the fees ( maybe $200 give or take) and some waiting the car is yours. good luck.
