im sure this ISN'T the problem, but remember that reverse is a NON_SYNCHRO gear, so it will be louder and notchier. That shouldn't be it. You should check to see if it is coming from front or rear. that would help to narrow it down' if it is while turning it could be either an axle issue or differential issue. turn the radio off roll down the windows and try to isolate the problem. look under the car for leaks etc...

when i first got my car it would grind in reverse but only when going slow. From the sound of it, i thought it was the axle. But it ended up just being a worn out inner brake pad

Whats your wheel, tire, and suspension combo? Is it all stock? Do you get the grinding noise only when you turn the wheel a specific amount, or does it grind with the slightest turn. You might have something rubbing in the wheel well.

Good luck,
Matt

yeah mine grinded only when I was going in reverse, and rather slow. I had a full brake job done (for other reasons) but I noticed that the sound and vibration never went away. So I have no idea right now as to what it would be.

hmmmm, so is this grinding noise coming from the tranny or the wheels? If it's the wheels it could be the wheel bearings..
