Nissan intends to drop the Silvia from its production run in the next few years. Japan is also about to seriously choke the aftermarket by going to some new CA style bull**** emissions rules. Even Diesel trucks in Tokyo are being forced to put on some new catylitic converters to reduce emissions. Now the diesel truck thing I agree with since diesel exhaust is now thought to be worse then car exhaust. Nissan already dropped the GST-4 and the GTS-T Skylines from production as well as the GTI-R and the 180SX. Yet then they go ahead and sell the 280 hp 2.5L turbo RB25DET powered Stagea wagon with its GTR tranny and AWD.

 

Ouch, sounds like its some pretty heavy emissions.

 

I don't think it will be Too teribly soon. I've already seen prototype pics of the S16

The silvia will be dropped as of August 2nd 2002 along with the skyline.

 

Don't worry about it. The S16 will come soon. The V35 is already out. And the R35 is in concept form. It's just the natural evolution of automobiles..

 

I think they are focusing on the competition in the RX-8 class. So their probably gonna push that 350 Z to try to match its competitors. Who knows, maybe the s16 will be out in a few years.

Actually, from the rumors I've heard it won't be S16 but V16 because its the next Silvia, but its going to be on the XVL chassis along with the 350Z, Skyline, R35... and will have a SR20VET.. 280ps stock

Well everyone in Japan is talking about the new emissions standards that is headed out in the next couple years as well as Nissan getting bought out. There are rumors there will be no SR20DET powered cars at all as well as the possible dropping of even the GTR.
If they are going to slap cats on diesel trucks then I'd hate to think what they have in mind for the cars.
