How do i take out the millions of hog rings back there without losing too many?

any good procedures for this?

I think there is a special tool for installing them - but I just basically pulled them off with pliers.

I didn't manage to re-install them all when I put the cover back on, and haven't noiced a difference. But I don't think anyone has ridden in the back seat since I've owned the car.
