how can i make the s13 well balanced for road racing?
#16
Okay, so I am not sure how the S13 is compared to S14....
I have ALOT of suspension work done, so I dunno if it's the other stuff helping out, but I felt a dramatic difference when I put the rear Tanabe sway on
Can stiffen up the rear with that sway, and also go with some Subframe spacers (aluminum)....
Can also set damping higher in rear....
Tanabe sways are not inherently adjustable, but certain endlinks are adjustable

i agree, i would go as far as to say that sway bars make a larger difference than coilovers if set up correctly. now, using sway bars and coilovers in conjunction with each other would be ideal however.

Things that "stiffen the rear"
Higher rear tire pressure than front
Stiffer rear sway than front
Stiffer shock setting in rear than front
Adding good, solid pillowball aftermarket linkages in ther rear (RUCA, toe rod, tie rod, etc)
There isn't a "tool''...
Do you have aftermaket sway bar endlinks?
Stiff sway bars are nice, but the transient (initial) response to roll is strongly dictated by the stiffness of the endlinks
You can go buy Suspension Techniques rear sway bar endlinks for $20 at PepBoys....they have polyurethane bushings, way stiffer than the stock rubber bushings in the stock endlinks

i have tein tie rods and i was thinking of getting oem control arms or should i get aftermarket control arms. the reason why im getting control arms is because the arms are making this weird noise when i go over bumps n whats causing that is the ball-joints of the control arms since they're torn...........so if i were to get aftermarket arms, which brand is good for the money. im a autocrosser n road racer not drifter but i drive my car daily, so should i still get aftermarket control arms or just keep it stock.
keep posting please this really helps.
i cant stiffen my shocks cuz they're stock but im gettin tein super drift coilover in couple of months so that should fix that problem....
and what are the endlinks and what do they do?
what are subframe spacers and what do they do? where can i get them?

Okay, so from what I have read, the control arms aren't a super important component unless you are full-out road racing hardcore JDM style serious
If they are F-ed up, replace them....most aftermarket LCAs (rear and front) are expensive (i.e. SPL they are >$700)
However, it is mainly just a linking point for the other pieces
You can stiffen it all up by keeping the stock LCAs but replacing any rubber bushings with polyurethane....

yea basically, just get like tie rods, tension rods, toe link, camber plates, polyurethane bushings, and lsd, coilovers, rucas, and some extra bars that dont come stock and u should be pretty stiff by then, but dont go to stiff...that is possible...

the dealer has them for 129.99 a piece(LCA). since they're not important i should just get the whole lca. ok..now should i get my tensions rods, camber arms, etc after i get my coilovers or before i get my coilovers?

Most Important (IMO):
Coilovers
Swaybars (about same as coilovers)
Rear Upper Camber Arms (you will need these if you lower >1-2 inches)
Tie Rod and ends
Aluminum Subframe Spacers
Next Important (IMO):
Tension Rods
Toe Rods
Traction Rods
Less Important:
Lower Control Arms
Strut Tower Bars
Pillowball Upper Mounts (good in front, especially, because allows for front camber adjustability)
If you are nasty and want a real beefy car:
Ladder bars, pillar bars, subframe work, etc.
ENDLINKS:
Endlinks are what connect the sway bars to the Lower Control Arms....it is basically a rod that connects the two, and his bushing in between (4)....the stock bushings are rubber, so when you quickly shift weight, the first thing that happens, is the rubber compresses, rather than the sway bar taking effect....if you get aftermarket endlinks, you speed up the response of the sway bar
As far as I know, the only aftermarket FRONT endlinks were being made by SPL, but they have been on "backorder" for the past 6 months LOL
