How to legalize my RHD silvia !!!!

Hello everyone !! I need your input and sugg's !!!

I have a Silvia RHD S13, brought it from Japan. I'm planning to legalize this beast and drive it on the U.S. Soil ! (California to be exact). I have 2 options, at least that's what I know of posibilities sofar.

(1) Register as a "KIT" car.

OR

(2) Buy U.S.Spec Nissan 240sx and transfer or use its VIN number to use the RHD silvia. I have to hold on to U.S.Spec 240 jus incase I get "refree" ticket.

(3) Is there any other way ??

Thanks
Jay

It will cost alot of $ from what ive been reading and hearing. You can try that "kit" option you were talking about. That might work, i dunno how Cali is (im in Jersey) so i cant really help you out. Try talking to LandHo_s13 he has a silvia RHD (dunno if its legal tho)

BTW check out RB Motoring, see if they can help you out.

Good Luck

PS can i see sum pics

Number 2 is very illegal but would probably work. It is what I would probably do, but then again I am in Iowa and we have never have visual inspections of cars so it probably would be easy for me.

it can be done, the best thing to do is contact your local dmv and visit a liscensing and registration center.

Thanks for all your input. I did go to DMV and got me bunch of forms of "how to register KIT car". I guess I need to fill out all those forms and see how it turn out !!!
If that doesn't work... hmmm.... it's time for me to cut the fire wall for the VIN, huh ?? LOL.

i would say do the VIN swap and register it as a 240...but whats the point if u have to buy another 240 to do it?...just swap everything from the silvia to the 240...
