Huge problem
ok i have a 240sx 1990, and last week my power steering pump broke, the casing broke in half and pully pulled out, anyway it happened when i was driving and power steering fluid sprayed all over my motor and everything. Now i have the pump replaced and they car won't start. I went and got a new battery and done an oil change cuz the oil smelled like power steering. It ran for about 3 hours total and then broke down on the side of the road, the battery was dead. Is there anyone that can help me on how to fix it without costing me a lot of money.

no cuz the belt wasn't broken does it make a difference if it has power steering fluid on it? None of the belts were broken, i did read one of the other forums and don't a little home test to see if the alternator was bad and it seems like it is. Could it be sometime just sticking inside of it. I never had a problem until the power steering blew everywhere. Would i be able to clean the alternator some how? I have $40 and i need the car on tuesday, so if there is anything i can try, tell me.

I would almost bet money that you f'd your alternator with all that fluid......
I'm guessing the ps fluid got inside of it.
Have yours tested, and if you need one, i can get you one off my parts ka for 40 bucks.
oh yeah.
email me at Busy20yo@yahoo.com if you need it.
