Angry I busted a nut!

Man, I was putting my front valve cover on and the damn nut busted on me! It was the 10mm one on the bottom facing upward. I am so pist, and I thought I had no ***** when I was putting it back, I was turning it, and turning it, then I heard a crack and pop. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? How do you take out the broken piece and where can I get a new nut?

not sure how you want to do that, maybe a torch?

But after you get that fixed you might want to invest in a torque wrench to avoid further breakings of the nut. lol

Take it down to a local body shop, tell him you don't want to pay, you just need some advice. It works most of the time.

u need to get a reverse drill bit from your local Home Depot or hardware store. then use a drill to pull the remaining piece of the nut out and then go to the junkyard or see if the hardware store has a replacement for it.

alright, sounds good, I turned on my car this morning after I screwed down all the screws. No leaks so that good, but I got a screw that has no head. Yeah, I do have a torque wrench, but the damn thing didn't say to torque down the front valve cover, just the top. It was the 10mm if anyone has done this before. It solved the the rattling noise though, atleast I got that done. These screws for the engine suck, I had so many of them broken but not in the same place like the front cover. What the hell is a reverse drill bit? I got drill bits, but reverse drill bits?

Another method Ive seen is to take a dremel to the top of the broken screw and create a straight groove. And then use a flat head screw driver to unscrew it. Hope that made sense.

Yeah, thats a good idea, I would try it but the top of the screw (the head) broke off and then sum. So the screw is not visible unless you look in the hole.

a reverse drill bit is like a regular bit but instead of going in the clockwise direction it goes counterclockwise. so instead of srewing in, it screws out. Catch my drift? so when you use that itll act like what PsYkHoTiC was tryin to say. itll unscrew it. When you go to Home Depot or w/e ask them and they should be able to help.

BTW the tip of the bit is cone shaped. The bits are kinda weak cus your going to be using a small one and it can brake easy so i recomend spending a bit more and gettin the best name brand they have. i found that out the hard way.
