Question I'm new to 240sx's... is this a good deal?

I live in the chicagoland area... i was looking through the paper and saw this in the classifieds...

1989 Nissan 240sx
black
5spd
moonroof
cd player
107k miles
asking $1200.00

so i called the number just to see what the owner had to say. she said that she had the motor rebuild when the ODO read 75K which leaves only 32k miles on this motor. she said she had it rebuild at a nissan dealership and that she has documentation. i want to go see and test drive the car. is this a decent price for a 240sx? im a big domestic car fan, ive had 2 camaros. i also currently own a 1983 mazda rx7. but im not real keen on nissans. will this 240sx be a dependable car?

240s are dependable cars when the owner takes care of it right. Sounds like a good deal to me

i would be a little curious why it had to be rebuild at 75k... the engine lasts a really long time and its a dependable car.

i wonder if its like my girlfriends cousin... bought a new car and NEVER changed the oil. then one day the car stoped working and someone looked at it and asked "how often did you change the oil?" cousin replied "whats that? you have to change it?"

Yeah that is rather odd. I have seen many 125k + 240's that run like new. As long as the timing chain is replaced when itis required and other maintenece is done in a timely fashion the KA should last forever.

NO!! DO NOT DO IT!! i don't like the sound of it. what u need to do is give me her number so i get the truth outta her about the car.

lol, j/k. if everything checks out, that would be a very sweet deal.
