importing JDM silvia

Hey guys, i wanted to know if anyone could tell me what troubles lie ahead if i were to buy a jdm silvia in japan and have it brought to California. Basically i would like to know the process that lies ahead for me to get the car legalized and what taxes and fees i have to pay.

it would be a pain in the butt to legalize a silvia. they need to be crashed for impact safety. they have to do things to the engines for emissions. check motorex and see the process that skylines go through to become legal.

if i remember correctly you gotta pay like 40% import tax or some kind of tax like that unless you own were living in japan for 6 months and is moving over here...

but basicly in my opinon its not worth the trouble...

I'll be realistic, I won't flame you, and I won't tell you to search. Just this once.

If you do indeed get this shipped to california and it is in your hands, you will never get the thing legalized with the SR/CA in it in the state of california, it will ONLY see the track.
