Arrow Insurance Question

My car recently got totaled by a drunk driver when it was parked out in front of my house. He crushed the bumper, headlights, hood and fenders. My question is if the frame is not bent (which we are getting checked out soon), and i decide to take the money to keep the car and get it repaired myself, i would want to do a s15 conversion. How would this go down with insurance? do they just give me my car and the money? or are they in charge of getting the new front end put on? and i know it would have to be painted, would that be their obligation as well after i get it all on?

I just dont know how this would go down, because if i keep my car and have 2 or 3 grand extra and need a front end, i sure as hell am not getting my stock one, anyone have experience or even knowledge of this? i would greatly accept it! thanks!

i think in some cases you could get away with it, but i'm not sure ... i know if something happened to my car, i'd take it to my brothers shop, and have them inflate the price a little to get some cash out of it, and some nicer work done to my car

but, i'm sure there are ways around it....

usually depending on their carrier, the other insurance company would want you to take the car to be repaired by their own "certified" body shop. the reason being is incase of incidents like this if a person wanted to do something extra to the car it might cost them more than doing the regular OEM job. its hard to argue with the insurance company because they go by the book even if u argue that the s15 front end is cheaper or whatever u can think of to convince them.

a friend of mine was recently involved in a accident as well. the other driver was in 100% fault and had to pay up. however, my friend couldn't choose the body shop he wanted and the insurance company took over..its been like a month and the car is barely worked on to this day....accidents r a pain and laggy insurance companies make it worse...they didnt allow him to choose where to repair the car and required that the original parts be put back on and no new modifications

sometimes they will pay you off for the car..it depends on the carrier....its easier to ask the driver if they just want to pay from their own pocket to avoid a insurance hike, thus you can try to save them money if the s15 front end is cheaper....good luck

insurance will want to check the car over after the repairs for sure. no way your're gettin out of that. if you can choose your own shop you may be able to get your front end put on if you know one of the managers of the shop.

i highly doubt you'll get away with it though.

Well the reason i considered this, is because the insurance already checked on parts pricing and they have been really helpfl because i was hit by a drunk driver when my car was parked out front, they couldn't find any parts and i checked out some and found them for the s15 front end, which would be like $2400, which is for the quality stuff, i dont know, atleast i have another car to drive in the mean time.

what r u guys talking about???
after the accident, and filing all da sh*t, they will send someone ova and take pictures (if car could not run), they then will have experts look it over and give an estimate, if it is ova ur car value, it will be declared total and u will only get what ur car is worth on the market, if the car isn;t total, u have an option of going to the shop and get it fix and bill the insurance, usually after they got pics of ur car and have an estimate, they will give u a referral list, but u can take it to any shop u like, just after u get it fix and it is ova da estimate, that sh*t aint gonna go down too well,,
i usualy just ask for da money, then fix it myself, my car the repair guy estimate around 4k or so to repair it and all, so im pretty sure insurance gonna total it, so i hope ill get atleast 2k for it, then buy it back, i've alreayd fixed the car, haha unda 200 bucks!!
werd!!! but damn it it been 2 weeks already and still no check!!!
grr, >
(i assumed that u r not at fault, if u r at fault, things will vary, ur points goes up, blah blah blah, and if 1 way they wont repair ur car)
