hey all, i changed the head gasket in my KA(and someone else put it back together while i was away ) and now it wont run right!

here is the simptom- i start the car and it idles at about 3000rpm for a couple seconds and then shuts off! i can drive it as long as i keep giving it gas to keep it running(i have drivin it a couple times and i am now a master at heel and toe ). today me and my buddy busted out the multimeter and checked the resistance in the Throttle Posision Sensor and all was good.

does anyone hace any idea what it could be? a thought that came up was that maybe the EGR is blocked some how

any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

btw its a 92 DE

 

are the head bolts in good shape, proper torque is very important

 

check all your vacuum lines. i had that happen to me. it would only stay idle if i held down the gas. it was also accompanied by a whistling sound.

 

yeah.. could be some hoses.. thats very common.. or sumone messed with your distributor..
