KA and -T DYNO's
KA and -T DYNO's
Well as you guys know I like to hype up the ka so I thought I would post some KAde and det dyno results that I picked up through google searches. If you guys have any others please add them. Lets make this a sticky for dyno refrences.
First some N/A KA's
This dyno has (Filter, Hot shot header, 2.5 inch exhaust, and JWT cams)

This dyno has (Greddy exhaust, Jim wolf ecu upgrade, performance header unknown)

This dyno is the PDM racing (cams, header, exhaust, and underdrive pulley)

DC sports dyno results (strictly header no other mods)

This is the AEM dyno (AEM EMS, DC sports header, and AEM CAI)

KADETS
This is a dyno (UNKNOWN turbo, unknown injection, unknown cam spec, retuned ecu, and intercooled)

This is the G reddy turbo kit tuned by performance products.

can I expect the price of KA motors to go up now because of your post?
All the SR guys are finally starting to realize that the motors they just pulled out aren't completely worthless. There goes the cheap motors.

If you ask me these upgrades are still overall more affordable than sr swaping (redtop)

nice post vin, this puts in to prespective how much people are putting out to the ground on average with beginner mods. Also man do the poorman mods fellas like vinne said. I have seen such a difference in my cars performance with all the poorman mods i did.
Also people can stop going around lying about how much hp they are putting out.

Each one of those engines could easily reach 180~190RWHP(200~210CHP), and none of them have done the free mods, along with an (EMS and cam combo).(Refering to the first 2 dyno's). Dyno one could easily pull 20 more donkeys with an EMS upgrade. Dyno number 2 that I showed that guy finally went KADET. If PDM racing just installed an SAFC you would see an additional 8~10WHP increase.

Free mods are the largest gains of all. I left you guys with the sticky on headporting for the do it yur selfers.
Here is why.

I am doing this so you guys can get a good visualization. The problem with KA isn't in it's bore and stroke it is due to its poor flow. You can see in this pick that the KA actually has a smaller port size than the sr20. Now why would nissan do that? (Especially since the KA is 2.4). Wouldn't the ports be bigger? Technically they would have been bigger if it was built and engineered in Japan. We are talking about a poorly casted USDM head, production cost kinda suffers. Second lack to the KA is the secondary butterflys. Why add buuterfly's that take up a 1/3 of the runner volume? Plain and simple Nissan wanted a torque engine monster not high HP, that could atomize fuel well in the lower RPM due to it's rich fuel dump.
It is noted that head porting alone will add a 6HP gain in stock OEM trim with NO other mods. It is claimed that the KA will make an additional 6HP with the removal of the butterfly's. Together that is a 12 HP gain, and I am refering to CHP. Adding modifications like header or other bolt on's will increase the percentages in CHP output. Those free mods alone will make the KA a monster breather, instead of an ANEMIC piece of shiat!

what year is the 240 on the second dyno? Post more n/a dyno's with list of parts please everyone!
here's a dyno that i see helpful. From a 97.
NMS- nismo motorsports cam or the famous 248/248 combo. Loss of power throughout but this is without any kind of tuning or timing change. Even a call to Nismo had no idea why the power loss (according to the homepage).

here's another one of my fav.
98 240sx
custom 3inch intake, apexi n1 dual 2.5, jwt old 252 cams, 25deg btdc
Not really too impressive but this dyno was at 92 degrees 85 percent humidity. Talk about hot and muggy.
Here's the same car with the JWT ECU

a good 10 hp and torque with similar weather conditions.
I've seen lots and lots of na dynos.. It seems that the same mods yields different results on each cars. It's kind of weird in my opinion.

BigVinnie: you were talking about butterflys on the KA.....what is that and how do i remove it???......and your sticky (head porting).....looks like it is easy?? what do you think, and how long does it take or should it take to do it?? I Love my 95 KA and the thought of it being restricted now and even more when i go turbo....just is not somthing i like to think about.......
