KA-T Gas Mileage

Is there anybody out there with a KA-T with light boost that can tell me what kind of gas mileage theyre getting? I was planning on running a T25 with no fuel management, 7psi or maybe even less. If this is a crazy idea somebody talk me out of it, but if its feasible what kind of gas mileage can I expect?

Well gas milage depends on a number of things. and You really cant turbo a ka with no tuning, fuel or timing.... even low boost it just doesnt work well long term. stalling, sputtering, knocking are just not fun things to deal with especially if it is your first set up. I would highly advise you do it right the first time; even if it's just a small z31 top mount on a log manifold. I had to find out the hard way bottom mounts are really a pain in the butt. If i could do it again i would go top mount for sure with a larger turbo. rom tune would be really easy and cheap on an s13.

By Z31 top mount do you mean the turbo itself? That would be a T3 correct? I want a turbo that spools real quick, like 2500-3000 rpms. I'm not aiming for big numbers, actually real small. I want only around 200hp and was thinking of going N/A, but that sh*ts just too expensive and difficult when it comes to porting. I still may just go SR or CA but i figured it might cost less to turbo the KA. Plus I wanted the torque that the KA has. I dont know. Theres so many factors. How is the gas mileage on an SR compared to a KA?

well i dont own an sr yet but an sr is a turbo high reving engine and a ka is a truck engine.
i would think the stock ka has way better gas milage then the stock sr det

The SOHC was a truck motor, not the DOHC

gas milage really isnt going to be that bad unless you are driving in boost all the time (which is pretty hard to do even on a t25). You should be more worried about the cost of using premium gasoline. just because you only want 200hp doesnt mean you have to put a small turbo on though. it's acutally better to have a larger turbo, heck if you put a holset diesel turbo on and only wanted 200hp it would feel great at just like 5-6psi and would still have quick spool. you really dont have to worry about laggy turbos on ka's since they have such large displacement. even a 63 trim t3/4 will spool way before 4000rpm. you really want to add something to the top end on a ka, and a ka-t with a t25 isn't going to get you there. heck i only made 180hp at 4700 and 208tq 3500 at 8psi on my t25 setup. With 200hp you will get boost happy and want atleast 250hp in a short while. might as well just start with a setup that has more potential. heck im ready to put a gtir t28 turbo on my motor.

So t3/4 or t28 is the way to go then? And top mount? Im not so much concerned about buying premium fuel, its only 20 cents a gallon more than regular, and i've been using mid grade anyways. What do you suggest I use for fuel control? I read on your ka-t thread that e-manage doesnt work too well.
