KA24DE vs Ka24E
hi all, im new to this forum and i finally got my 240sx. my 240sx has the KA24E motor. i reviewed this link http://www.socal**********/faq/1990.html to get the specs of my car and compared it with this link http://www.socal**********/faq/1991.html. comparing the 2, between the KA24DE and the KA24E, the extra cam only makes 5 HP o_O. reason why im posting this is because before i even had the car i was planning to swap in the KA24DE. considering all this, is it even worth getting the swap? i used to be into hondas, between D16 and the B16 the HP difference is alot, i know B16 has more compression and all, but still.....
thanks.
thanks.
The extra cam doesn't make 5 HP. The larger cam duration specs, ecu tune, and much larger porting of the DE head make it a much better engine over the E.
Way more tunable features using the DE.
SOHC is great as a torque monster, but with solid lifter assembly don't expect any superior reving over the DE.

cool if you came from honda, get use to less wiring for low end swaps. remeber for example if u ever swaped a b18a1 ( or any MPFI motor) into a older DX ef u have to do DPFI to MPFI and add the extra wires for the dizzy etc which is easy, which i have done or just do a full Si body wiring which i have done also lol. My DOHC KA swap was seriously a 3 hour job with all the parts and tools both times ( Yea Both). and car lift would help. I have always owned nissan but i know alot about honda too.
all u need to do the swap

It's working out great. 20+ passes at the track, and maybe 15 dyno pulls, and I drive the car 150 miles a day to and from work. It's a wet kit, so the injectors and ECU are still stock. I put in a new Walbro 255 lph fuel pump for safety's sake, but it ran fine on the bottle without it. The motor is bone-stock internally. I went a step colder on the plugs, both because of the spray and because of all the freeway driving I do. Right now the timing's stock, but judging by where the 'blue line' is on the plugs' ground straps, I'm going to start taking out a couple of degrees when I run it hard at the strip.
If I had a spare motor handy, I'd be putting the "75 shot" jetting in... :-P
