loud winny squal on start up

First of all... is there any reason that all repair shops are closed on sunday???

Well last night when i got off of work my car stared making this squaling noise almost like i turned the key to long but i just figured that i was tired... but this moring i went to move my car and it did the same thing. so i tured it off and stared it again and it still did it. so i drove it down the highway but its fine while its running.

so i got my friend to look at it while the hood was open and i stared it. we think its coming form the starer or somthing. I also have the very common problem of heavy shaking while in idel. I know that im low on power stearing fluid, but i dont think that could have anything to do with it. dose anyone know what could be wrong with my car??

Probably your alternator belt is squealing like a banshee. I had this problem too. When you first crank the car it squeals but after running it the squealing stops. Your belt is probably too tight. There is an adjusting bolt on near the alternator that you can use to tighten or loosen the belt with.

Either the alternator belt, or possibly the alterntor bearings are going bad. Also, if you have an A/C compressor the bearings may be going out in it. Um, the only other thing i can think of is that the starter is staying in the on position, and the motor running is causing it to make the sound.. If that makes any sense to you.

i had to recently replace all my belts due to the squeeling. depending on the last time you replaced the belts i would say just go ahead and replace the alt. belt. mine was about to seperate woohoo

Mine had one rib separating... it was only a year old though... it was odd. Maybe it had something to do with how hard i pwned my alternator.

the sound you used to describe the problem i'd say your starter stays engauged after the car starts.

the heavy shaking leads me to belive it's you alt. though.

PS if it is your alt. i have one and a few other parts that i've been wanting to post it the fs forum but haven't had time.

ok repeat after me, "i will never ever go to the dealership for repairs" now practice on your own until it sinks in.

a starter will cost about $150 and take about an hour to replace,
it's no big of a deal.

well sadly i spoke to soon. now its not my money... but its fustrating. no one in my family likes to mind their own business, so my grandfather (the one who bought the car for me) told the dealership to go ahead and do it. i called back and told them STOP!! and there like "$600"

i dont get how there gonna try and charge me 600 because they didnt even get the parts in until today!
>_< so i'm mad.
but i'm like ya... i'm not paying for that bs. so im not... but i hate to see the money given to them.

NEVER GO TO MIKE SHAD!!!!!!
ps. they cant charge you for putting your car back together if they havent done anything.
