making paper gasket
making paper gasket
i'd like to put my oil pump on tomorrow but nissan says there is no gasket, just silicone, but when i took my current one off there is paper. I have some nice gasket paper that i cut out a pretty good gasket to fit the pump, you guys think this is a good idea? also, you think its better for the gasket to stick out a little or to be in a little where i can see the metal of edge when i put the gasket on? there is a tiny place where i cut to thin and i can see about 1mm of the edge of the pump where the gasket should be, im pondering making a new one, so is there anything bad about sticking out a little past where the two flat surfaces meet?
it will be fine, there are different grades of paper.
just make just the mating surface is clean and use Red(high heat) RVT. once u install and its fully dry, u can scrape the edges off.
