Unhappy my 240sx is acting up, could it be the fuel pump?

Yesterday my car started to act up. It’s very unusual and inconsistent. I had a hard time starting the car (the starter would spin but the car would not start). Then on my way to work the RPM meter dropped all the way to zero and up.

I am starting to think that may be the fuel pump is going out. What do you think?

All comments and advice would be appreciated. Also, is their a way I can check the fuel pump without buying expensive equipment?

Thanks in advance,

i wouldnt start with the fuel pump. First I would go get some fuel injector cleaner and run that through your car. Also get some carb cleaner and spray it into you TB. If the problem still persists check out your fuel filter to see if anything is clogging it up, replace it if need be. If the problems still persists check your injectors (maybe soak them in gasoline). Fuel pump is probably the last thing on you list.

mmmm i think the timing chain, my car have little problems but not when start sometime, but sometimes eh ?, when you go at 80 milles or more it have some little stop like electric cut but is like you go into a hole on the ground. I was thinking is the injectors , or maybe thw conic airfilter i already put it on the ground above the headlights or my timing chain , it knocks some time .
Best regards to all the people

Unhappy

I changed the fuel filter and added some cleaner into the gas tank. The car was working fine until yesterday. As I was driving on the freeway from work going about 60-70mph the engine just died on me (RPM just dropped). As I was coming to a stop I tried to start it but it would not start. After about 3 minutes of trying to start it I was successful. Today on my way to work I experienced the same thing. I drove the car for over 20 minutes before it happened.

I have no idea what to do, please help.
