MY 89 240sx keeps stalling out

My 1989 240sx won't idle and keeps stalling out unless I give it gas. It has been sitting outside for a few months and now won't stay running. Once I take-off, it drives ok but once I stop, it stalls. I put dry gas in the gas tank but that didn't seem to help. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

OK.....figured out the problem. I put an aftermarket cone filter on thinking it would give me a little boost horse-power wise. Thats when my 240 started stalling out. I put the stock box air filter back on, adjusted the idle valve, sprayed some carb cleaner into the throttle body and now the car runs like a beauty. I don't understand why the cone filter would cause the car to want to keep stalling out. I guess I'll keep the stock air filter on.

Just a no-name brand cone-style filter.

I would say your maf is loose when you put your cone filter

I highly doubt that any aftermarket filter would cause your car to stall out unless its clogged or something. Check your wiring to your intake sensors and then try the filter again and make sure everything bolts up right.
