Question My KA.....S13 or S14?

Hi, i just recently bought my s13 from a friend, and the shop that he had originally purchased it from had put in a new motor. I was just wondering if there was anyway to tell if the ka is from an S13 or S14. The reason i was asking is because i want to swap the cams from blown S13 Ka of mine. If there is any way to tell that would be great, but i dont know if its possible. Thanks in advance.

yea, but the S13ka had more 'aggressive' cams. And if my running ka was froma S14, i was going to swap both my S13 cams to it. OR if the Running Ka is from a S13, i was just going to swap the exhaust cam from the non running motor. That way i would have two S13 exhaust cams in my running motor.

The valve covers between the two generations are slightly different.

What are the real advantages of swapping S13 cams into an S14 engine?

from what I hear the '91 cams are supposedly the best, I couldn't tell you because I've never actually looked into and I've only ever driven a 1991 and a 1990, so I cant compare it to another KA24DE

Thanks for the info. Well i am not exactly positive on the duration numbers, but the S13 cams had like a 240/248 duration(Intake/Exhaust). While the S14 had like 230something(maybe 236). So two S13 would give you 248/248 duration, which is supposedly better. Anyways, thats what ive gathered so far, im still learning as well.

do the cams affect the peak HP and torque, or are they more aggressive in the sense they have a "better" power band.?
