My Project Begins.

I picked up a used 93 coupe on ebay yesterday and head down to get the car this weekend. Once I have the car back home my new project begins.

I decided about 2 months ago it was time to get a project car and since I drive an American V8, I thought a good project would be a Japaneese Turbo-4. I've always loved the look of the s-13 era Silvia and settled on that as my project. I will keep everyone updated on the progress as I go through a nearly complete rebuild of the car.

First up is trying to get the stock motor running if I can. I'd like to have it running so I can atleast get used to the chassis dynamics before I invest money into a SR20DET(Blacktop) motor. After the winter is over I will be installing a Silvia front conversion and having the car completely repainted. This includes the engine bay and any other locations that the factory paint can be seen. The goal is to make it appear that the new paint is the factory paint.

Just before I pull the motor I will be teaching my girlfriend to drive stick. The motor will be then promptly replaced with a Blacktop SR20 that I plan on rebuilding to factroy spec before installing in the chassis.

Here is a link to the auction:

I lookforeward to being a more active member here and learning all I can about the S-Chassis.

The Mach 1 is WORLDS better than my first car. Before the Mach 1 I drove a modified.......Focus Took a 92whp 19sec car and made a 150whp 15 sec automatic drag car, all motor

Good eyes there. I had the micro-sprint tires on the front and skinnies out back to try and kill the wheel spin off the line and lower the resistance on the rears. Sadly I never found a way to get an LSD into the focus' transmission without heavy machining so the tires and wheels ended up being for shows mostly. They got crowds to gather around the car where the engine work could hold thier interest. The car took 2nd and 3rd at All Ford Nationals in PA before I sold it.

Well just got home from NC at 1am. Picked up the car today, has some issues to fix but otherwise its far better than I expected. There is NO rust on the car at all. When I get up tomorrow I'll post pics before I go out and start troubleshooting the motor. My girlfriend has volunteered to keep the records and photos of the project and make a documentation notebook.

Thanks, The stang is such a fun car but its time to retire it to track only duty. I'm headed to the garage now to try and get this motor running and start cleaning up the car. I really underestimated the smallness of the car....

I will post this in the right forum as well but thught that I might get an answer here too.

Trying to get the motor running and having an issue. It cranks over fine but does not catch and run. I have checked the spark using a test plug (The thing you ground with the clip and watch for a spark) and also checked the plugs that they were correct and gapped correctly according to advance auto. I also checked the fuel system and know im getting fuel all the way into the fuel rail. I messed with the distributor and even running it through its entire range, I get nothing. It looks like spark is fine, and all I can think of is one of the injectors is not flowing. The previous owner said the motor was swapped in and ran before the swap, but didn't after. It is a 92 KA24DE in a 93 coupe chassis. Any ideas?
