Picking between the altima and 240sx would just be your personal preference. Family sedan vs sports coupe. The price is pretty good. I would say at 105k you could try and talk it down a couple hundred dollars.

Insurance...that would depend on what state you live in I guess. I know that car insurance in NJ is a different animal than all the others

I'm not sure what else to say, got any specific questions?

I couldn't tell you much about the altima, but I too just recently bought a 95' 240SX SE. It didn't have some of the extras like the sunroof or leather or ABS/LSD, but I got a great deal at $3500 with 106k on it. But to give you an idea, I just spent about another $900 at the mechanic (and only because I'm ****).

I had them do an entire check up throughout the car to see what needed to be done. Turns out it only needed a front brake job, the idler pulley on the AC was going, and it sounds like the timing chain is losing tension. I had them do the front brakes and pulley. That ran me $370. The check up itself was $100. I asked them to flush the transmission (at over 100k, I thought it would be a good idea) which was another $140. It also had a small pull to the right which turned out to be a caster alignment issue (it was off by 1.5 degrees). Well it turns out that caster is not adjustable by normal means, so I decided to go ahead and pay the $195 to have them move a control arm to fix the issue (seems that this problem is relatively common and most of the time comes from the factory that way). There was otherwise no suspension issues or damage whatsoever. There was also no other issues, back brakes were like new, fairly new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and the only fluid leak is a very minor oil leak from the pan gasket which they said I should hold off on until it gets to be too bad (because the labor involved in getting to it is pricy).

Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase. After the trip to the mechanic it runs almost new and will probably last me past 200k with regular maintenance and with few (if any) major issues.
