need help gears taching out too soon

well me and my father finally got the good ol ka24e runnin after getting the head reworked, new timing chain kit, timing gear, and all new belts, we had a little timing problem, we got that fixed and it idles a little rough kind of like a camed out v-8 but thats not the problem, when you gas it the gears start straining at around 4,000rpm and seem like their taching out at just 4500rpm I know this isn't right cause I know a few people that own 240's and theirs never seemed to have that problem. if anyone can be of any assistance on what it might be it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

fuel pump could be failing, injectors leaking at high rpm's, fuel filter could be clogged, not allowing enough fuel in,
Remove the AIV, it helps 9/10 times. Clean the throttle body, mafs, usual stuff.
My 240 opens up at 4K rpm's, especially with the header.
