Need help too much NOx

I went to a the smog shop yesterday and the guy was nice enough to give me a free pre test. I put my friends stock exhaust and cat from his car that passed to put on my car and it did get better then the last time i tested but not enough to pass. (15mph=1025 25mph=1045) The guy told me to hold the egr valve all the way open as he ran the car and the NOx jumped from 1025 to 400.....i tested the egr valve, transducer, and solinoid as instructed in the FSM and all is working. Also as i rev the engine the egr valve moves up and down. Anybody know what else can be the problem?

Thanks, jeff

I'd go over the diagnostic on the EGR again. If it drops NOx down that far when you hold it open then there's definitely something wrong with it. You may need to clean it out. Buildup inside it could prevent it from opening fully under vacuum or be blocking the internal passages.

What were your other readings?

Here is the reading of the smog test. I tested everything EGR related with my Vacuum pump so i am sure my egr stuff is working.

*CO(%) max-0.52 ave-0.06 meas-0.06 *NO(PPM) max-704 ave-150
meas-1025
Mph-25 Rpm-2796 *%co2-14.3 *%o2-0.8 *HC(PPM) max-53 ave-13 meas-30
*CO(%) max-0.50 ave-0.05 meas-0.03 *NO(PPM) max-738 ave-136

It could be the EGR has excessive buildup inside it or the EGR tube has a leak.

I noticed that i had a leak when i was seafoaming my engine where the header meets the exhaust piping. Would that cause the egr to not work properly?

Yes that is possible. Usually there are 2 gaskets in that joint. Replace them and check it again.
