Question Need info on hooking up a digital tach

Hey guys!
I've been having problems with my factory tach.. the needle bounces around and is inaccurate when the motor is cold but once fully warmed up the tach works fine...? i've had this problem ever since i changed the clutch and broke the tach sensor on top of the bellhousing I replaced the broken senor with a new one as well and I'm pretty sure it is plugged in all the way? but recently i came across a digital tach gauge that i snagged from a junk toyota tacoma. it has one black wire , one red, 2 blue, and 2 orange coming out of the back so i was just curious if anyone had a clue how to either fix my problem or help with hooking up my new gauge. thanks for any input you guys have...
Thanx Eric

Did you check to make sure it was plugged in all the way? Double check to make sure it was installed properly. Once you have double checked post back if the problem still occurs.

i'm not sure if there is a difference between the obdI and obdII when installing a tach. i'm guessing you have a obdII because it's a 95. but the + wire from the ignition coil what you'd use as the signal wire. i think, i can't remember right now.

Actually i think it is an obd I cause my friend had a 98 obdII kouki and it had extra emissions on the engine that mine didn't have?? and if i recall i think mine is one that was built in late 94 but it was considered a 95.... but anymore help hooking this up would be awesome!!! and i think my coil is in my distrubtor cause i don't have a coil mounted on my fenderwell like my old s13 had...... help!!!

it must have been the flu talking because my first post has the information all jumbled. you can use the original signal wire for the tach. the positive from the coil will also work and that's what i've used on cars and trucks that were not made with a tach to begin with. there was more i wanted to say but i'm out of it right now so i'll stop before i post more misinformation.
