Need sr20det header advice.

So i did a quick search on the forum and I didn't really get much of an answer. Plus I really don't trust what I've found on Google so if the club240 gurus could help out that'd be great.

I've got an sr20det (black top) and I just so happen to stumble upon a header being sold on ebay. Cheap, no-name stuff, but they were claiming that it adds 10-15 hp for only $75, sounds like decent mod. What do you guys think?

very bad idea. cheap exhausts will crack, even if you reinforce the welds, and id bet my life that the stock mani has better flow. www.ssautochrome.com stuff is cheap and decent...but i would try to get a quality piece from a quality japanese manufacturer if it was up to me. especially since you have the SR20DET, which has an aftermarket not much smaller than a chevy small-block.

Do you even think that changing the headers would be a good idea at all? Cuz, $150+ is looking like a bit much for 10-15 hp. Is there much to be gained from changing the headers or is that just another ricey way of chroming-up the engine bay?

the amount of horsepower an individual part adds multiplies as you add other performance parts and turn up the boost.
