Header advice

I wanna get the new hot shot headers i heard they got a third model out for the KA's. What do u guys think? How are the power gains, do they really make a difference worth $350?

I have the latest gen of hotshot headers for my s14. My advice is to get them. you will love the power increase Your car will be louder but it is worth it. Be sure to get new Nissan factory header gaskets as well as gaskets for where the header connects to the dummy cat. The hotshot gaskets are thin and do not work very well. They will eventually blow out. I just replaced mine

The o2 sensor hooks up no problem. Some people get a check engine light but I didn't. Click on the red x under my sig to get to my page. There is a pic of my hotshot header installed. Hope this helps! I also got a JDM VLSD. You absoultely HAVE to get an LSD. Makes a BIG difference

very nice ride! forgive my ignorance, but what style header is that? 4:1, 4:2:1, etc... also, what are the advantages of the different types? thanx!

from the engine shot in his car domain page, it LOOKS to be 4-1, but im not sure

the difference is how the collectors merge together. one has all 4 tubes go into one big one all at once (4-1) and the other has them stepped down, as in 2 sets of 2 come together into 2 pipes, then those 2 merge into 1 (4-2-1)

usually 4-1 headers are setup more for topend power, while 4-2-1 headers usually are setup for more low/midrange torque...

4-2-1 is usually better for auto-x'ing and whatnot, where you need more power across the entire rev range, whereas the 4-1 would be better for drag racing/long straight'ed road courses, where you want to have peak overall power

Thank for the compliment! The header I have is a Hotshot header and is a 4-2-1 design. 4-2-1 headers have better flow characteristics than a 4-1 header and provide more torque from what I've read. There are 2 cats in the s14. With this header you lose the first cat.

I used to have a greddy header which is a 4-1 design. That header retained the first cat so it was a bit more restrictive. From my experience owning both the Hotshot is MUCH better.

One very important point: Greddy doesn't make their headers anymore b/c they crack over time! They hang low so if you scrape your exhaust over a speed bump it will stess the header and it will crack at the collector flanges. If that doesn't happen the header walls are thin and little holes will start cracking open over time! So yes save yourself the time and trouble and get the Hotshot header!
