New to the board, a few Q's
Hi All,
I'm new to the board and am looking at getting a 240. I'll be looking at a 95 S14 SE with 115k miles on the odo. Guy is asking $4950, which is inflated imho, but actually the cheapest I've found for the year model. My questions, are there anything I need to look for/look out for in particular with the 1995 model? Is that price reasonable? Any trouble spots or common problems or recalls I should know about? Also, generally speaking, is the S14 240SX reliable and built well? I'm purchasing this car PRIMARILY to be a track-day car and will be keeping the KA in for simplicity's sake and build on that. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

kelley blue book for a 95 SE with around 100k miles, 5 speed and body/interior in good condition (only the wear and tear for the age) runs around 5k so that car is about right. if it has ANY damage, point it out, and make it sound like you're losing interest in the car. if you keep pushing the stuff like that, you might be able to weasel it down to 4000-4500... maybe lower, i dont know how good you are at conning ppl.
well i payed 3500 for my 95 and it had 140k on it. Tiny tiny tiny bit of rust and in perfect condition. You're not going to find enything much lower than that unless you get really lucky. I say get him down as much as you can as you would obviously do enyways. The s14 is reliable if you take care of it and treat her right. There were no recalls that i know if. Something you would want to look for is the same for eny car... shocks, check around the valve cover for oil leaks, check the tail pipe to see if it burns any oil, etc...
let us know how things turn out with this car.

Many thanks guys! I'm kinda having seconds on it coz my cousin has a 91 S13 that hey may sell to for cheap (2k maybe). It's the very base model (no a/c, hand cranks etc) so that would mean its the lightest possible car for that model yr. Other than 5 lug and maybe ABS on S14, I don't really see the point in paying more for an s14. What do you guys thinks?
I paid $3650 for my 95SE in GA. Me personally would spend the xtra loot for the s14 but thats bcuz I like it more than the S13. But if your just buying the car for track day than yea I agree with you going with the base S13. It's the lightest and might have a slight advantage on the track. But both are well built and reliable. Goodluck!!
i love my s13....a base coupe is the lightest out if all the 240's, in stock trim. but you could find an rps13 hatch for alot cheaper than 5k you get even get a 89-90 for about an average of 1500 bones.then you take the money you saved from the s14 and put it into the s13... but ultimatley you should get the car that "feels" better to you. good luck
Man those cars are cheap! I always here of people on this site geting cheap 240sx's. In B.C, they are lots of $$$$. I sold my 92 all stock for $7000cnd last fall. Another guy just sold his (same as mine) for $8200cnd. I know that your prices are in U.S funds but still thats cheap!
