new to nissans, couple questions...
Well, its almost time to go to college, so i am going to sell my 1992 BMW 325i, and i have been looking at 2 possible options to replace it, either a 94-95 accord ex, or a 91-93(i dont know what years are what for nissans, but the s13 is in my price range(2-3k) i believe) 240sx. Selling the bimmer because it will probably get stolen down at OSU, plus it is horrible expensive for everything, and gets bad gas milage.
So, the questions for the s13.
first, what years are the s13?
-how is reliability as compared to a honda?
-how is gas milage?
-how cheap are parts? comparing to bimmer, CIA is anywhere from 250-500, exhaust starts at 500.
-what should i look at when checking out a s13 as far as common problems, etc?
-how is insurance?
Thanks a lot!

bimmian...first off, welcome to the forums
the years for the S13 are 91-93
Ive never owned a Honda so I dont know how reliable they are...but i know that my S13 has had minor problems that were caused by the previous owner. The KA has good power, its a very tough engine.
Gas mileage depends on a few things.....but mine is pretty good...I can go about 300 before it needs to be refueled.
I have some friends that own beemers and their parts were amazingly more expensive than mine. I guarantee that parts are going to be at least 20-25% cheaper for the S13 than the same thing for your beemer.
Common problems....there are a few small things that can go wrong with S13's. Nothing too bad.
I pay 75 a month for liability on my S13.
Are you talking about Oklahoma State University? Just wondering...used to live around there.
Again welcome to the forums. HyJynx will tell you to "search" before ask a question that has been asked a hundred times before. This is a good forum.....you'll learn a lot of info from here if you decide to go with an S13.

S-13's faxtbacks were made from 89-94 here in the US. With a coupe version added in 91.
- 89-90 had SOHC KA24E engine.
- 91-94 had DOHC KA24DE engine.
Since I have an S-14 I cant really answer the gas mileage question. I do know that Nissans have a notorious reputation for broken EGR valves (DOHC) and that will affect gas consumption.
Parts are becoming pretty cheap ever since the S-13 has become the new "civic." And because of the growing popularity of drifting here. An off brand intake might cost you 100-150(usually illegal) a name brand (injen,AEM, etc.) will cost between 150-200 and will be legal for on road use.
As for common problems rust under the rear spoiler seems to be one of the major complaints from S-13 owners that I hear.
As for insureance I'm sure you won't have to pay more than 150 per month if your lucky. My car is labeled as a SC (Sport Coupe). I know that it would personally cost me less to insure an RX-8 than my S-14 ($25 bux less on RX-8). But since the S-13's are technically 3 doors, and because of how old they are it might cost less than that.
Also you have already had a RWD car so I think that changing to a FWD will NOT be as fun.
Hope I gave you some insight into your choice.

s13s are 89 - 94 and from what the manual says its 20/27 miles per gallon and that would depend on how u drive the car parts arnt cheap some of it is expensive some are not just depends on what ur replacing and who ur gettin it from dont know much bout what to look for but a running engine is alwayz good ahahah well lets see my insurance cost me 200 dollars every 3 months for a 90' nissan 240 fastback so i would say its pretty cheap for full coverage..
