Talking OIL grade

I wanna do a oil change just wondering what grade of oil i should use? like 5w 30 or something i have no idea what the hell that means. my engine is at 100 000 right now and occasionally i drive it really hard. I hear royal purple and mobil 1 is good just wondering what grade of oil is best?

thanks

I saw a chart in the chilton manual and they said it's either 10w-30 or 10w-40. people also said the closer the two number are the less composite it's gonna produce so I guess 10w- 30 would be the best choice. other than that can 240sx use synthetic? cuz my friend has a RX7 and the manual said it can't use synthetic on it.

You should be able to use synthetic, no prob

I suggest 10w-30, or 5w-30

10w-30 is what i use.

synthetic oil doesn't burn the same as dino oil, and since rotary engines burn oil by design you would have a problem using synthetic.

10w-30 means it will flow like 10 weight oil, but lubricate like 30 weight oil. The 'w' means that it has passed SAE viscosity versus temperature tests.

No, the first number indicates that the oil's viscosity when it's cold, and the second number idicates the viscosity at operating temperature.

As far as my opinions on suggested oil weights go, I use 10w-30 in the winter ( but use 5w-30 if it gets really cold where you live) and then I use 20w-50 in the summer.
