oookay got a problem
well lets see i heard from the insurance company about my little accident there. Well they said the repairs would be $4,500 and my car is worth $3,400. So they said it was totalled. I looked it up for the KBB value and the suggested retail value is $5,300. I'm trying to get the price down enough to where they wont total it out. My question is for you guys... what can i do? I know i can have them not match colors and no paint... aftermarket parts and also tell them that i put $1000 into the car but i dont know how well this will go over. Eny idea's or sympathy will help. Maybe just maybe i will just take the check for the cars worth and get a s13 for cheap?
when i totalled my other car they didn't care that i had an award winning sound system in there, cuz it wasnt on the policy, nor did they care about how much i spent on the rims. so they totalled it. if you can present reciepts on how much was put into the car, they would take that into consideration, but of course they are going to depreciate the price of what you actually spent.
sorry for your loss star =(
sorry for your loss star =(
what happens when the insruance company says your car is totalled?
i take it its not like life insurance, where someone gets money if somone dies. i know it s bad comparison, but im just curious. LOL, im laughing at what i wrote

I've been through this.....so listen.
Insurance companies will ALWAYS lo-ball you. ALWAYS........
Don't even bother trying to tell them that your car is worth LESS.. YOUR screwing YOURSELF over.
You need to show them the market value. Print up 10 for sale adds of cars JUST like yours....same model, aprox. mileage/conditon.
Then print up the KBB price for it.
Once you prove the car is worth 5k. or more, they will have two options...... Give you 4000 or 4500 and NOT total it....(hahahah....YEAH RIGHT....that won't happen, don't even consider it...)
and second, STILL total it, but right you a check for AT LEAST 4k. or 4500, depending on how insistant you are.
ALSO......when they total a car......99 percent of the time they don't know or care what is ON the car........ Have the car towed to your house(while you make a "decision" on what to do). While it's there, take ALL the aftermarket parts out, and replace with oem, or just **** parts......Then let them take it....
This is all my opinion...I've seen this senario MANY times, and this is what i think is the best option....JMO.

Heres what you do. Hopefully little to no engine damage. Do like i am having to do. Work, ALOT. Overtime... slang do what ya gota do and start buying peice by peice. I am using my local Nissan dealer and buying panels at a time and having them black primered. Eventually when u get humpty dumpty put back together. Have someone paint it.
when i totaled my car in aug. it was priced at 3700 (i lied about trim and what not said it was an le with all options hehe) they toteled it at 4000 so i went with them totaling it but i bought it back the same day over the phone with them for 600 dollers so essentually i made out on the deal
okay well i talked to the insurance people... and i can either get 3100 at the most for her and they keep it. Or i can get 2900 and get the car back with a salvaged title. Since the frame rail is cracked bad from the accident its ganna take a lot of money to fix. I think i'm going to take the 2900 and get her back and part her out.
SO i have for sale
KYB AGX gas adjustable shocks/struts
Tein S-tech springs
Front strut tower bar
among other parts.
i'm just hoping that this s13 coupe i found will pull through and i can get her for cheap then build her up with the left over cash.

i tought insurance companies pay u what u registered in the dmv like if i register my car and i say i paid 3k i get 3k from insurance me never totaling my car dont know but my friend totaled his celica supra and he got preety much what he paid
not true AT ALL (from my and friends experiences)
They are SUPPOSED to give you enough money to go out and buy the same car you had. Period.
his guy will never find his old car for 3k. with todays market. Hes basically getting raped.
I JUST salvaged my 1992 honda accord. kbb value of 2800 give or take a few hundred bucks. My insurance company(state farm- they are by far the fairest, and nicest people i've ever met) gave me something like 2700, AND i got to keep the car..... or they would have gave me 3200 and they kept it.
Cheap/crappy insurance companies will make you fight for what you deserve though. Just because they SAY they'll give you 3k. doesn't mean thats the final word. You need to deny the offer, get pissed, and threaten to sue for what is fair.
