OOOOH GOD radio wiring
A while back i asked about the wiring behind the head unit that would make my dash gauges light up again. I took out the radio and what do i see? About a million wires just laying all randomly behind the head unit. I didnt install it so i dont know what half the wires are for. Does anybody know which color wires need to be grounded for me to get my lights back? Since its daytime i cant even see if the lights turn on or not, so can anybody help me out here?

wow i guess the pictures dont really help anything but i'll leave em there anyway

good luck with that. i do know that if are installing a head unit and u dont want to mess around with the wires then pick up some smart cables. i got mine from circuit city. that of course only works if u still have the stock connectors. i dont know ur complete situation.

Ooh god it all just went to hell...
I un-plugged the head unit to play around with the wires back there. I plugged it back in and nothing. Dead. I checked the fuse and it was blown. So I ran out to AutoZone and bought new fuses. I replaced the blown fuse, and nothing. On top of that my door and headlight chimes no longer chime, and neither does the "key in ignition" chime. The fuse in the back of the head unit is good. Where do I go from here. It doesnt help that its 100 degrees outside.... i think she's gonna go un-fixed for a while until it cools down, but anybody got any ideas on why I lost my electronics?
*edit* I went to my gf's house and when i got in the car and turned it on the radio started flickering. Think the lights in Duke Nukem. And the power button turned red.

wow that wiring is definately a mess. if i were you i would first just take apart all the wiring down to the harness so you can see all the wires clearly. i know all the stereo wiring has been covered on the forum before and could be covered with a search. maybe you can deduce the problem by tracing back each individual wire and eliminating them. sorry for the previous owners idiocy

Well i took apart the wiring harness and looked up the schematics online for what wires do what and labeled them. Then i re-wired all the wires the RIGHT way and put electrical tape around the connections, since there was none to begin with. Apparently when I was trying to figure out my dash lights i touched some wires because 4 fuses were blown. I replaced them and now I'm back to square one with no dash lights but everything else works. I can't find anything wrong with the wiring so i guess i'll check the dimmer switch tomorrow.
