don't wory about it. it's great to have but truth be told you don't normally mash on the brakes. i know my abs can still lock up and it has twice on me.

Locked up my brakes on my Miata, not fun at all(leaded to a accident). Could ABS have helped me? Quite possibly. Your choice. BTW drive safe lol

yep driving cautious is the best thing to do. just trail 3-4 seconds and you won't need it. you may still want it though.

Depends on your skill as a driver. I've been in two situations where I wished I had ABS on my Altima. Both of these probably happened no more than a year or two after I started driving.

One when cars in front of me on a freeway stopped suddenly. I locked up the brakes and tried to steer out of the way. Since steering doesn't work when the wheels are locked up, I mistakenly released the brakes while still steering and veered into a wall.

The other situation was on a rainy day. I was approaching a stoplight at only about 35 mph when the light turned red. I tried to regulate the brakes to prevent lockup, but I was unable. It wasn't even a short stop. Thankfully nobody was crossing the intersection at the time.

off topic but, if you do a 300zx brake conversion on a s13, will you have abs?

My preference... on older cars like s13 fastback you are looking at, you really don't want abs. S13 abs (rare as it is to find) is really primitive and doesn't do a very good job at all. If you were talking about a new(er) car I would say yeah sure abs can be a good thing as long as it functions correctly. Currently none of my cars have abs and honestly I prefer it that way. There are times where abs can help but other times when I am glad I don't have it.

well i have a S13 with abs... or actually i had one.

i would never say it was primitive and it didnt do its job. the abs handled my brakes pretty well. i mean ofcourse you cannot count on them when you flying 100mph and trying to stop within 20 feet.. but its good to have it. especially while drifting. example. on a rainy day... i went for an usuall drift on wet.. and after couple of succesfull drifts.. comes the screw ups. and when you sideways, and suddenly loose control, abs helps. you gain the control back, at least you can control braking, and not just skid down the ditch... so i would say go for it. if you find a Super Hicas edtion S13 (it had ABS), buy it.

Plus they look really good when you paint the calipers and sand off the nissan letters.

Learn how to use ur car @ it's full (or almost full) potenetial without ABS. I heard it makes u a better driver that way. REMEMBER, ABS doesn't kick in until an extreme braking measure. ABS is still a nice thing to have though. Just depends on how u drive and how much u know about ur car.
