Q's from friend..

Alright, my friend has a 89 hb 240. He has a stock air filter w/box, and he took out the filter and he said it looked like it had old oil on it. I told hiim it was probally really dirty, and he told me it was black...I have an injen intake so I've never had that problem. So, gurus need to help him out.

could it have been "oiled" at some point? cuz some people oil their filters for some reason...

other than that, something couldve seeped in there, or there is a BIG problem...tell him to clean it, then see if it comes back, if it doesnt come back, it was most likely a freak incident, if it does come back, take it to a shop, somethings prolly really wrong...

K&N filters when they are cleaned get oil in them, or at least they used to.

Is it black from not being changed in over 10K? Thats probably it, if thats not it then you're getting some airflow in the wrong direction, that happened to my girls S13, it was black from air going the wrong way.
