Will the clusters of a 1991 work on a 1989???


Will the cluster of a 1990 work on a 1989?? (They look the same but the 1990 got the engine check light, therefore my question..)

the 1990 has the CEL...where? I have both a 89 & 90 cluster both without CEL's.
I dont think the 89-90 & the 91-?? will interchange, because of differnet electrical systems.

Also the 1989 Owners Manual shows the 1989 as having a CEL.

 

Whooaa!!! Now this is getting freaky...

I have a 1989 and there is no CEL on my cluster, I seen pictures (Ebay)of 1990 clusters with CEL's and the same MPH's as the 1989's....

Unlike the 1991+ that have a different max MPH's but look identically to the 1990 one.....

 

As far as I know, the 89-90 (SOHC Engines) cluster should be interchangable between those two years only,and the 91-94 (DOHC Engines) should be interchangable between those three years only
