QUICK QUESTION!!! 240sx. Is this a good buy or no?
so i went and check out a 240sx yesterday. it's a 1990 S13 white. No rust what so ever. The guy is selling it for 700 and i think i can pull it off with 500 bucks.
The bad: The engine starts, but it makes a sound like the piston is banging against the wall. It make like clicking sound. Lots of smoke is coming out. then you have to keep giving it gas for it to stay alive.
((( oh yea, forgot to mention. the car have been sitting in the garage for 2 years w.o starting.)) lol
I know the smoke is from things built up inside. since it haven't started in a while, so thats normal. How about the engine sound?? oh yeah. when its starting, the engine SHAKES like crazy..
would this be a good buY??

cmon, it's Chicago. Rust free S13s in Chicago are rare as *****. 500 bucks for the shell (that is if it's in really good condition) and 250 or less for a new KA or 2500 for an SR swap.

wow .. sounds just like a 240 that we looked at the other day. But it was a 1991 coupe. Rod knock, no oil, and sat for 2 years. Only difference was rust.
I mean hey even for $700 and ruist free, I'd do it if you plan on swapping out the motor. You can find KA's for $250 or sometimes cheaper.
Depends on if you are looking for another SOHC or a DE. Only difference with the DE is that you'll have to locate a few more parts.

You have to look at you are willing to invest into your 240. You have to thiunk it's built in 1989. The car is pretty much 18years old which means you need to look at what you are investing in..
-New suspension
-New Engine
-New Tranny
-Possibly anything else that is over 15 years old on the chassis
