Okay guys, I wasn't sure where to post this so I decided this was the best place because more people will see it. How much cash (estimated) am I looking at spending if I have the rings replaced in my 89' 240sx (including labor)? I just bought the car for 300 bucks and i'm getting it ready to go for college next year. Thanks.

 

300$ what shape is the car in just fried piston rings I mean if you buy a car with something like that I suggest a Light overhual.

 

Well it needs new rings and an alternator. The rear hatch is rusted but the guy had a good one he gave me with the car. Besides that, it's in good shape with 159,000 miles. So you could say i got a steal. I'll post pics of it as soon as i can.

 

It would be wise to send the Head to the machine shop, Thats alot of miles.

you gusy seem to know a lot about the nissan 240sx....what does it do? haha. i know this sounds rediculous but i just got it as my first car, and im a girl so naturally i dont give a rip. so my friends are pretty much popin boners in thier pants when they see it and say i dont deserve it. so if anyone could tell me a brief summary of a 89 nissan 240sx and what makes it so special that would be great!

 

I'm assuming whats so special about the 89 240sx or any 240sx in general is the capabilities, also helps that its somewhat world known in my opinion, plus its a tuners dream to fix up a 240sx, its a car made for drifting and has alot of promise and many options for customization, and also in some areas its a really hard car to find, it took me a year and ahalf to find a decent 240sx that wasnt rusted up or just plain dying from bad maintenace from the old owner. The 240sx is also made infamous by having its part in the well known anime Initial D....well thats all i know about the 240sx and as to why it could be wanted so much....
