How do I get the Rear Hatch open the lock spins around but does not work? Crawled in back reached in light panel opening trying to open it with my hand found small parts lose could not open it.

 

Have you used the lever by the Driver's seat? I know I bought mine with the lock not working. I took the back panel off, and found the latch totally gone!! But, the Driver's side lever works. You could always visit your local junkyard, and take parts of another car.

 

What panel? Nothing works. Found small hockey stick looking part about 3" long lose. 89 must all be the same?

 

I'm talking the trim panel in the inside that cover's up the mechanism for the latch, the light bulbs for the rear tail lights, you know. You should see the piece going from the lock to the latch. My guess is that that is waht the "hockey stick" piece is. Then, twist the lock and see what happens. You should see what's wrong fairly quickly, even if you can't fix it and need new parts. It the piece is not connecting to the latch, there you go. At least one problem. You can open the hatch with the lever, right?

 

omg my car is the same way 240trainee...i put my key in the trunk but it won't turn....but my driver's side lever works too...when i got the car it had a converted 180sx center taillight panel, so i was thinking that had something to do with it...but whatever!

 

The Pull Cable is stretched will not pull enough and will not operate the lock put a spacer between lock and cable end now it works fine. Thanks all, Boricua Gracias.

 

There is no lock in my car in the rear, only the cover you see in the taillight panel. If you put a key in the slot, it just spins, cuz nothing's there!! Some things make me wonder about who owned my car before me.
