youre a super noob. A minivan will always be cheaper than a 240... and YES it does make a difference... which is why im not painting my 240 anything exotic or bright, because the insurance company said they wont insure me if i do... I called them. so suck a fat one you noob.

Yeah.. there's no way I am even close to being good enough to go enter an event, plus I wouldn't want to, and I live in Idaho, so there's not really any events close by... I just go out in when it rains to have some fun... i'm not building my car for drifting.. it's just a little side thing to do.. that's why I don't want to drive to tracks or anything, it would be pointless.. I can't afford new tires all the time, that's why rain is good.

Who do you have for insurance Hillbilly Co.? My mom worked for many different insurance companies as an Underwritter and she wrote the policies about who would get what rates. Color doesn't mean **** and if thats what YOUR insurance told you then your a noob for being insured with them.

LA_phantom_240 07-16-2005 09:06 PM

maybe its different up north where people say "eh?" and "dont ya know?" after everything they say, but down here, where the insurance policy is under the "new orleans metropolitain" area, color matters. Red cars are more likely to be jacked in this area, cuz idiots can see vivid color better. Sucks that even though i live 30 miles from the big easy, i still have to pay insurance like i was. And FYI, i am insured through allstate.

Secondly, lrb, you made a good point there, not many of us have the time and resources to drift on a regular basis... or even on dry pavement... LOL. Not all of us can dumpster dive for used tires. I doubt that anyone here has a tire mounting machine. Not many of us have freinds in the tire shops who can hook us up. we are normal people trying to have fun. Okay, so its not exactly right, but i doubt anyone here would do much else in our shoes.

Lol rain is good.Nice and slick. And as of insurance goes we are getting an alright deal on mine and im goin paint it silver would that make it go down or somethin?

phreze 07-16-2005 09:32 PM

Never heard of new orleans metropolitain but sucks that they would charge more. Not how any of the major ones do it. I would just paint it and not tell them what will they do if its stolen anyway, it's gone. If they do find it be like "damn they repainted it to try and hide it was my car!"

State farm, progressive, united, etc. don't. And who the hell in Chicago says "eh and don't cha know? This isn't Canada.

LA_phantom_240 07-16-2005 09:51 PM

LOL... anyways, yeah screw telling the insurance company... what i do is my damn business not theirs... besides, im paying THEM arent i?

Its too bad that its ILLEGAL to have a color change and not report it.

You have to change it throught your insurance and your reg.
Otherwise you will be pulled over, and towed for False--plates.

lrb_2000 07-17-2005 11:29 AM

hmmn, well, they sure don't care here... i got pulled over a few times in my last 240, it was painted black, by my reg and insurance said it was green.... but that's what you get in a small town.

down_shift 07-17-2005 12:36 PM

I think that kind of thing really varies from state to state.

LA_phantom_240 07-17-2005 06:42 PM

no its not false plates, because your vin number is still right on the money, and thats what really matters. Though your insurance can refuse to cover you if you get in a wreck when youre liable because of it...

phreze 07-17-2005 07:13 PM

My friend had a blue del sol and had it repainted le mans sunset orange after it was keyed and was pulled over the cop was like what insurnace is this for. He said this car and he said ok. The cop didn't care and the insurance company even paid for the paint job. Rate didn't go up at all either.

It's not illegal to repaint a car either as the place that did it was certified by the insurance company, and he does it all the time. I think its just something they say or a really weird insurnace co.

LA_phantom_240 07-17-2005 07:22 PM

well once we bought a 90 maxima, and the title said it was black, but it had been painted escalade white. The insurance had no problem with it. Sometimes it makes a difference sometimes not. Youre playing roulette with it though.

down_shift 07-17-2005 11:16 PM

Just call and ask the insurance co. or be safe and pay the small fee to get a new title with the new color on it. It cost's $18 to retitle in GA.
