hi my name is floyd I just got my 1989 240sx and its haven issues. My car will start off starting fuild. Once its starts running car runs fine but, if you rev it up there is hesitation. Once you turn the car off and it cool down it want start back up unless you spray starting fuild then is will run fine again with the same hesitation. im told i need a fuel pump could that be it.

 

it could be a bad pump, but first i'd reset the ecu and see what happens.

then i'd run a tank full or two with some injector cleaner, clean the maf, replace the fuel filter, do a tune up, look for vacuum leaks.......

or you could hook up a gauge to the fuel line between the filter and fuel rail and see what you get. iirc you should have 43psi.

 

sorry i should have said that i replace the fuel filter and a tune up and some 93 octane to get this far. how do you reset the ecu?

 

Unplug the battery for a while.

 

alright well if thats the case i've been doing that all day. everything has almost replace but the pump. i don't think i left anything out.
