only real way to properly get rid of rust is to cut it out, bang out a piece of metal same size 'n' shape as the one you cut out, weld it back on, sand down and paint... shouldn't cost too much if the holes not too big...

Arrow Rust neutralizer

I bought some rust neutralizer from the hardware store a while back, and it has pretty much taken care of all of my rust.

Im new to the site. I have the same problem plus some. I have it in the same spot, on the rocker panel. The way that cowboyturbo posted is the correct way. Or, you can buy a product my Dad and i use a lot when we restore cars. its called Por-15. It is gauranteed to stop rust permanently, for life. Its very simple to use and the price isnt too bad. But, the way i know best, is to do what cowboyturbo suggested. And then, if you want, you could possibly Por-15 it. But if you ever have any frame rot or anything of the sort, then I highly suggest using por-15. they even have finishes that mimic, almost to the exact color and feel, the look of bare steel. Its a very good product.
